The Black Mental Health Conference (BMHC) 2027 invites mental health professionals, advocates, educators, community leaders, faith leaders, and subject matter experts to submit workshop proposals for our upcoming conference.
This year’s theme, “Wellness: Sacred, Social & Systemic” explores the ways faith, culture, and politics intersect with our mental health and collective wellbeing.
We invite presentations that move beyond traditional conversations about mental health and examine the systems, beliefs, identities, cultural practices, and political realities that shape how Black communities understand, experience, access, and advocate for mental wellness.
We are especially interested in workshops that are thought-provoking, culturally responsive, practical, well-researched and relevant to the lived experiences of Black communities and the professionals who serve them.
Clinical & Professional Focus
BMHC 2027 is seeking clinically relevant, evidence-informed workshops designed primarily for therapists and mental health professionals. We are especially interested in sessions that translate the intersection of faith, culture, and politics into practical clinical knowledge, therapeutic strategies, assessment considerations, and interventions that professionals can apply in their work.
Proposals should move beyond broad discussions of mental health and offer specific clinical application, skills, frameworks, case conceptualization, assessment strategies, interventions, or evidence-informed approaches that enhance a clinician's ability to serve Black clients and communities.
We welcome workshops that challenge clinicians to consider how faith, culture, and political realities show up in the therapeutic relationship, influence presenting concerns and treatment, and shape mental health outcomes.
Our goal is for attendees to leave with something they can use in the therapy room—not simply something they can think about.
